Matt Prochaska is an experienced public servant with a reputation for getting the job done whose commitment to Kendall County is reflected in his experiences as a lifelong Kendall resident.

After graduating from Marmion Academy, Matt matriculated at Loras College, in Dubuque, IA, where he earned a bachelor’s in religious studies and political science. Returning home to begin a private-sector career, Matt joined Baker’s Marketing Group as a consultant before serving as Director of Operations for Strive Strategy Group, located in Aurora.

In 2012, Matt became the youngest member of the Kendall County Board ever elected. Since joining the board, transparency has been a top priority, and Matt’s collaborative yet decisive approach to decision making has been a constant foundation for smoothly operating government.

Currently Chairman of the Planning, Building, & Zoning Committee, Matt’s effective leadership is an asset to Kendall County in Springfield, where he leads Kendall’s legislative agenda. Fighting alongside the other county representatives to prevent the General Assembly from forcing unfunded mandates on local governments, Matt also advocates for Kendall County’s capital infrastructure needs.

As Chairman of the Kendall County Housing Authority – facing a federal takeover prior to his leadership – Matt turned the “at-risk” and “troubled” Authority around, raising Kendall Housing Authority’s SEMAP score from 19 to 130, earning a “High Performing” rating from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.

As Chairman of the Law, Justice, and Legislation Committee, Matt is responsible for oversight of the office of Kendall County Circuit Clerk. His open line of communication between the courthouse and county board when working with Kendall’s Judges, States Attorney, Public Defender, Sheriff and Court Services, provide Matt a clear view of issues facing Kendall’s court system and the Circuit Clerk’s Office. This keen understanding was on display when Matt worked to direct implementation of $3 million in security upgrades of the Kendall County Courthouse and Jail, which came in under budget.

Believing fiscal discipline is a municipal virtue, Matt established a record of balancing budgets and holding the line on taxes as Vice-Chairman of Kendall’s Budget and Finance Committee. Additionally, as lead board member during negotiation of six labor contracts to date, Matt strove to ensure taxpayers interests were safeguarded.

In addition, Matt Prochaska is Vice President of the Kendall County Forest Preserve and is a member of the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning.

A consummate professional, Matt continuously seeks to improve services offered to Kendall’s citizenry by implementing municipal “best-practices” adopted from numerous civic non-profits, including the National Association of Counties, and as an executive board member of both the United Counties Council of Illinois and the Illinois State Association of Counties.

Active in the community, Matt Prochaska has volunteered for numerous organizations, including the Knights of Columbus; Sons of the American Revolution; Loyal Order of the Moose; and the Boy Scouts of America.

As the current Circuit Clerk, Matt Prochaska has effectively leveraged his extensive experience to enhance his service to Kendall County. His efforts include launching a new smartphone app to enhance communication with residents, which provides features such as case search, court schedules, jury duty information, and remote access for court hearings. This app, available for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, allows his office to connect with residents directly through their phones. Additionally, he has guided essential projects through the County Board, addressed labor issues, and maintained a high standard of transparency and professionalism in managing the office. His dedication has been recognized with prestigious awards, such as the Clerk of the Quarter Award from the AOIC and the Certified Court Manager designation from the National Center for State Courts.
